California PoppiesPfeiffer Big Sur State Park has an active Guided Hikes, Campfire Program, Junior Rangers, and Ranger Cubs programs through the summer months. A series of activities for the whole family. If you happen to be coming from another local campground or Inn, entrance to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park for the Campfire Program is FREE! When entering the park, let the Ranger at the kiosk know that you're there for the Campfire Program and they'll issue you an evening pass. Park day use fees apply for Nature Walks and daytime activities.

Be sure to check out the Calendar of Events for other music, arts, and activities going on in Big Sur. In addition to what is listed on this website, other websites list their own music and calendar of events. So be sure to check around on the web or while you're in Big Sur for entertainment that suits your fancy.

Note: The Campfire Program will begin Memorial Day weekend. Check back for the details which we will add to the schedule below:


Wednesday, June 18th
*10:00 a.m. “Ever Changing Pfeiffer Falls” Join Lindsey for a half-mile hike through the redwoods to Pfeiffer Falls. This will be a one hour hike, one way with stairs, ending at the waterfall. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Meet at the Nature Center

*10:00 a.m. JUNIOR RANGERS (ages 7-12)
Come meet Amy for an hour of Junior Ranger activities.  Join her on a discovery quest and find out about life both big and small!!! Meet at the Campfire Center.
 
*11:00 a.m. Ranger Cubs (ages 6 and under with parents)
Come meet at the Campfire Center for a half hour of storytelling and art!
 
*7:30 p.m. "Moonlight Lighthouse Tour" This walk will lead you on a leisurely half-mile ascent to the lighthouse, where you will have plenty of time to climb and explore the tower. If you're lucky, you might spot some Big Sur wildlife along the way! On this special full-moon tour, you will hear about the ghosts of lighthouse keepers past! Tour groups meet in the parking lot at the base of Point Sur's giant Moro rock formation, limit 40 people, no reservations.
Prices   Adults: $8.00     Ages 6-17: $4.00      Ages 5 and Under Free

Thursday, June 19th
*10:00 a.m. JUNIOR RANGERS (ages 7-12)
Come meet Lindsey for an hour of Junior Ranger activities.  Learn about the park and have some fun too!!! Meet at the Campfire Center.

Friday, June 20th
8:30p.m.Campfire Program: "Peep into the Life of a Big Sur Bird"  
Join Wildlife Biologist Jessica Griffiths for an introduction to the Big Sur Ornithology Lab and discover why it's important to track migration routes of our local birds.  We will explore many different species in this fun one hour program

Saturday, June 21st
* 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. "Morning with the Songbirds" Join Ventana Wildlife Society's Big Sur Ornithology Lab and observe a bird banding demonstration, accompany staff on a visit to nets to remove birds.  Park vehicles in the Andrew Molera State Park parking lot and walk back out past the kiosk and turn right down the gravel road 150 yards to the brown barn.  For more information, call VWS Wildlife Biologist Jessica Griffiths at (831) 624-1202.

Molera Ranch House Museum - Located at Andrew Molera State Park, the Ranch House is open for visitors Thursday thru Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Ernst Ewoldsen Nature Center -  Located near the Pfeiffer Falls trailhead is open for visitors Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Come discover what lives here!

Point Sur Lightstation State Historic Park Tours- "Walking Tour into the Past"
Volunteer led, three-hour walking tour on paved road. The walk is less than a mile but with a rise in elevation of 300 feet. Meet along the west side of Highway 1, 1/8 mile north of Pt Sur Naval facility. Arrive early.
Tour size limited. Tours-Saturday 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Sunday 10:00 a.m.,
Wednesday 10 a.m., 2 p.m. More information about Point Sur Lightstation.
