The Dolan Fire was reported August 18, 2020, just after 8:00 p.m. Active Fire behavior was observed with long range spotting, uphill runs, flanking and backing fire.

Date/Time: Wednesday, August 19 at 8:53 AM
Location: Highway 1 near Big Sur in Monterey County.
Description of Incident: Wildland Fire.
Highway 1 is closed from Ragged Point in San Luis Obispo County to just north of Partington Ridge at Mile Marker 39 in Monterey County due to a brush fire.
Motorists may use US Highway 101 for north/south thru travel.
Motorists should be aware of law enforcement and other emergency responders, including
Caltrans in this area.
It is not known when Highway 1 in this area will re-open.

Regarding Nacimiento-Ferguson Road
Motorist should be aware of law enforcement and other emergency responders, including Caltrans in this area. It is not known when Highway 1 in this area will re-open. Please avoid using the Nacimiento-Fergusson Road as emergency responders are using it for evacuations.

The fast-moving Dolan Ridge Fire located in the Big Sur Region has triggered road closures on Hwy 1, preventing access to many state parks in the Big Sur area.
Due to the emergency situation caused by the fire and resulting concerns for the safety and health of our State Parks visitors, the following parks – including all campgrounds, day use areas, and hiking trails are being closed to visitors until further notice:
• John Little State Natural Reserve
• Limekiln State Park
• Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park
• Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park
• Andrew Molera State Park (Re-opened 9/15/20)
• Point Sur State Historic Park
• Garrapata State Park (Re-opened 9/15/20)
• Point Lobos State Natural Reserve (Re-opened 9/15/20)
Visitors to these Monterey District California State Parks are advised to respect the emergency services and public safety efforts in the area. Please check the park unit websites to find out when the Big Sur State Park units will re-open at a future time.

LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST MONTEREY RANGER DISTRICT COVID-19 Emergency Road Closure Forest Order No. 05-07-51-20-17
Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Los Padres National Forest, Monterey Ranger District. This Order is effective from August 7, 2020, through October 19, 2020.
1. Being on the National Forest System roads listed below and shown on the attached map.
Forest Road No. 20S05.3 (Central Coast (Cone Peak) Road)
Forest Road No. 22S05 (South Coast Ridge Road)
Forest Road No. 23S01 (Los Burros (Willow Creek) Road)
Forest Road No. 23S02 (Plaskett Ridge Road)
36 CFR 261.54(e).
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.S0(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Owners or lessees of land, to the extent necessary to access their land.
- Residents, to the extent necessary to access their residences.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.
